if the dog has bull in its line somwhere then taht will help ... bull breeds have a much higher pain threshold than other dogs ... it is t do with the nurons in the brain ... the bulls brain releases happy drugs into the brain when it feels pain ... it is the same type of releases that you get when you eat chocolate ............

Kane, if control was more important than sport, we'd all have a lamp & rifle.

You're right on the other point though. Men have bred dogs for gameness and nothing else, completely forgetting why the terrier is there in the first place.

Terriers have been around a long time in these isles probably longer than gun powder and definatly longer than the sport of lamping.Without gameness there would be nothing to work but that wouldnt worry rossette hunters.

this was just a balance post to mirror the bayer post. after reading both i am of the opinion of breeding being the biggest single factor. with clever or poor rearing and entering i personaly have seen linebred terriers bred for generations and throwing dogs that not only look similar but also work similar. then when different blood enters the line it inveriably changes the work style. even if they still look similar :good::yes:
