ratkilla 42
kye do u hunt all year round or do u have seasons over in the states? ? how would u say a staghound would do over here in the uk ? Quote Link to post
Kye 77
In the summer you hunt Ground Hogs with the terriers...winter you can hunt most stuff, coz things like fox and coon go to ground...coyotes, you need to try and kill when you can!...lol. How would a Stag do back home...real good, imo...they are big, but they turn very well for big dogs...my male (Blister) is a great lamp dog and he is 29"...picks rabbits up like a whippet would.. They are plenty game...they took a 60lb feral dog not long ago...buy accident though...i would never stray to far away from the type over here, although i might add a little summat along the line to " tailor" them into what i want from a lurcher type!... I would like to see one go on a Red deer...imo, they would do them single handed once they got the nack, but as its illegal to hunt deer in the US (with dogs) i will sadly never see it happen, as i am a law abiding resident of america!... logman 0
nice dogs mate, What are they exactly? Quote Link to post
Kye 77
VERY roughly speaking, they are a mix of wolfhound, deerhound, borzoi, and greyhound...but they have been breeding fairly true for 100+ years....just any sighthound brought over buy the Pioneers, that killed coyotes...there feet are AMAZING!...My male is the fastest dog i have ever seen...other than a greyhound...the fastest dog i had seen before that was Darcys Scooby.. They can move i can tell thee!..lol.. Kye,.. Quote Link to post
mackem 30,099
Are they the same stamp of dog featured in the American section of EG Walsh's "lurchers and Longdogs"?Huge, well muscled deepchested types like the Nebraskar hound pictured in the book? Quote Link to post
DiStuRBeD 0
i wonder if it would be possible to get sperm from that line over here, to put some of their blood into our stags, certainly an interesting thought Quote Link to post
