jayjay 264
my terrier seems to be shakeing her head every now and then and paying alot of attention to her ear ive had a look at it and she does have a bit of brown wax there its not excessive and there is no discharge or horrible smells and i think she could either have a slight ear infection or perhaps an ear mite so just wondering before i take her to vets is there anyone on here that might know of any old home remedies which i could try to see if they eradicate the problem, thanks alot. IanGD 0
Thornit ear powder...Plenty of places sell it on the net including ebay and you will only need the small size as you don't need to use much.

Guest ESS
Could quite easily be a grass seed lodged in the ear canal, very irritating for the dog. I would check it for Ear Mite if none of the above remedys work I use Stronghold .. similar in applying to frontline and will cure most mite infections e

Hi. I had something like this with a newly aquired lab. It was said to be a yeast infection and the vet prescribed cleansing with Epi-Otic £9. followed by Surolan. Gunge in ear came out like waxy coffee powder and yeasty smell. Surolan approx £8.00 i think. A few months later the problem came back and i used up the bottles from previous and then asked for some more. Receptionist asked vet and got the OK. However the vet said that i should take doggy back in two weeks for a look. The cost of the look would be £26.95. After 3 or 4 months they are still waiting to have a look in his ear and the problem has not returned. TCP may be a good thing to try, use sparingly?

Ratman2 2
I'm quite into essentiel oils, and for ear irritations (both for dogs and myself) I mix one drop of Tee Tree and one drop of Lavender with about ten drops of Olive oil. Tee Tree is anti bacterial and Lavender is soothing and healing. Rob
