17hmr or rimfire

I'll be the dipstick to say they're both rimfires then ;)

If you're going to shoot a LOT of rabbits then .22lr every time, because it's cheap to shoot and that is very important believe me. If just a few rabbits then the HMR as you can more easily knock off safely grounded magpies crows etc as well.

There are a lot of pros and cons to both but they'll both do the job very well indeed

HMR every time. The rabbits don't really mind the crack of the round, it's much harder hitting so I know when rabbit gets hit, he's down. Not every single time, but a lot more than 22LR. Also you have much better drop and windage figures with HMR so it's easier in the majority of rabbiting situations.

22LR has a place, with moderated subsonic, but it's not the ultimate bunny gun for me.

if i had to have one rim fire it would be a hmr everytime, without question...more power, better range, potential to shoot bigger stuff etc etc....22lr the amo's cheap and there quite..thats all the good things i can think of for the 22lr

if i could only have one it would be the hmr its. more powerfull got better distance, safer round, flat shooting, and better for the odd fox.

but if i where you i would ask for both as the 22lr has its place to. plus its more silent and great for shooting from a jeep to as you can get in range of rabbits on the night easy in a 4x4 so why waste the 17 hmr ammo which is more dear to buy when the 22lr can be run cheap :gunsmilie:
