lurchergrrl 1,441
If you've given it more than one season, asked for advice and given it your all, then neuter and rehome. That way they're not bred from and someone else can thoroughly enjoy them. They're not disposable. Quote Link to post
Guest ripstop
If everything has been tried, back to basics, time effort, only you will know at the end of the day, but what has been said is the harsh reality whether anyone likes it or not, put it down to experience and youll be better for it. bird 10,014
It comes down to the word GRADE, it can meen differnt things to all people. If you want a dog to take rabbits and the odd fox most lurchers can do that. But if more of a one type quarry, then the word GRADE does come in. Dont forget even top dog+bitch, can still have pups that dont make the GRADE. . i think with all lurchers you need that bit of LUCK. if they dont make it , pet first if not ptsp BIRD Quote Link to post

Guest WILF
Now there are a couple of schools of thought on this...........with some I would say have them done at the vet so they cant breed and then give away to a good home (if you dont have them done, then you are relying on trust) With others, I would say pts............I have re-homed a dog before, but with the young dog I have now I know that would not work out.......... If this lad dont make it, well, I was there when he was a pup, I have fed him, hunted him, trained him.......and when his time comes (wether that is sooner or later) I will be the last one to see him alive. I owe him that......... Quote Link to post

Terrier man 38
At the risk of getting lynched is any dog only as good as the person schooling it ? Well kay in that case everyone will be puting even more effort into there dogs.....But if all the dogs had the heart the skill or drive to work out as folk want them there wouldnt be any bad ones right?? wouldnt it be great if everything worked out like that eh? just a pitty some genuine lads do put good food time effort and work not to mention a clean kennel into these dogs and its all we can ever do for them for a handfull its enough, But for most its never close.... there comes a stage in a working dogs life where everythings done for it and it has to pull its socks up earn its keep and if it dont then it is not worth the shit it produces.. But yet on the other hand you have the lads who dont give a rattle a f**k what goes into a dog once it works but sure you could count the good dogs they have had over a 40year period one the one hand ... Would you back a horse to win a race coming out of stables full of shit under feed and not fit...? would you run a race and plan to win it ... unfit and underfeed....? classic case of you get out what you put in... My dogs ar well tried well kept etc etc and if they dont make the grade they dont see tommrow...unless theres more little old ladies looking for more terriers... Its the only way as most dogs will have it worse being past from pillar to post , being feed f**k all due to being useless no point .... Quote Link to post
