It's bloody hard enough being a dog owner these days without arseholes like this going around lamping peoples freakin' pets I know you don't all like cats and that's not the point. The point is dog owners, and working dogs in particular, get a bad enough wrap. This kind of behaviour is atrocious.

 

If whoever did this comes on here, the message from me is simple: you're a pair of twats and you deserve a bloody good smack. The only thing you don't deserve is your dogs. Proper d*ckheads.

A Burnley couple have been left heartbroken after lurchers killed their pet cats in a sickening attack.

Mr James Macalapine (28), of Coal Street, told how he and his partner, Katherine Gasse (27), had to comfort each other after finding their cats Silky and Chutchi "torn to shreds" on the street.

 

CCTV footage has shown how the lurcher, which was similar to a greyhound, chased one of the cats down the alleyway of Paradise Street at 1-20 a.m. on Thursday where it was later found dead. Silky, a black cat, then emerged from underneath a van in Coal Street after hearing the cries of the ginger and white tabby cat, before racing down the alleyway to its rescue.

 

Shortly after, two white men – one a muscular man over 6ft. tall holding another lurcher and a pitbull type dog on leads, and a shorter, stocky man with a high-powered torch – made their way towards the scene. The men are believed to have watched the killing frenzy before being disturbed by a neighbour.

 

Silky was later found near the footbridge at the bottom of Standish Street. Mr Macalapine said: "I was absolutely devastated. I was dreading having to tell my girlfriend. She just burst into tears when I told her. She could not stop crying because she could not believe what had happened. They were lovely cats. It is horrible and deeply sickening.

 

"People like this are sick. I hope the police trace them and bring them to justice. I can't believe they have done this. You don't expect these kind of things to happen. They should not be allowed to own animals because they are disgusting individuals."

 

The couple, who also look after three other cats – including Chutchi's two kittens – urge anyone who may have seen the men to contact the police on 425001 or Crimestoppers, free and in confidence, on 0800 555 111.

Ya, it's a real test of a dogs mettle to lamp someone's pet cat. Like I said, I know a lot of folks don't like cats but what about the people who own them? Does nobody have any respect anymore? I could understand an accident ... mine has killed a cat ... but to lamp town cats for the fun of it is just sick.

I tend to just ignore them when they get onto this subject because theres no teaching them right from wrong.

 

Girlfriend works at a place at the foot of hambledon hill and she tells me its full of rabbits all the time and that the kids come on from the local estate trying their luck with the dogs to make a catch and when the security come out all they get is,"what you going to do, you cant touch me" and they just carry on their ways till they get bored.

Ya SM I hear it too. I fail to see how taking a cat can compare to taking a fox. Morons every last one of them. Had a gab with the dog warden a while back and some lads on t'other side of town from us have been opening people's gates to get at cats in the gardens. I'd like to open the front gate to mine and show them what I think of them. The disrespect really pisses me off. And the fact that so many decent dog people have to pay for the deeds of these runty little pea brains is just as bad.

 

It isn't easy living in this town but at least our area isn't as bad some. Yet.
