neil_fret 6
hi guys and gals, i had my s200 tested the other day and it was shooting at 10.5 is it worth turning it up to 12? i use field and target air arms pellets? Quote Link to post
Corky(amateur) 0
i'd get all you can out of it without breaking the law to be honest. more power means slightly better range and a longer killing distance. Quote Link to post
paddy.t 8
go for 11.5 then your safe in the law Quote Link to post
SEAN3513 7
hi guys and gals, i had my s200 tested the other day and it was shooting at 10.5 is it worth turning it up to 12? i use field and target air arms pellets? i would leave well alone, obsession with power is not a good thing IMO. 10.5ft/lbs will still give you around 6ft/lbs at 30 yards which is enough power for all legal air gun quarry. shot placement is key.......and for 1 ft/lb...is it worth it ???????? plus if you did turn the power up to say 11.5ft/lbs and used a heavier pellet you may well go over the legal limit. i guess you have had no problems and are happy with its performence prior to having it chrono'd??? all the best sean Quote Link to post
hiho 5
if its under waranty send it to get fixed if its not you neednt bother sending it away and paying to get one more ft lb Quote Link to post
The one 8,595
You could bump it up but if the police think there's anything dodgy about your gun they will try it with the heaviest pellets they can find and that takes it a bit higher so your better safe than sorry Quote Link to post
Coney 3
If you are happy with the way it's performing why change it ?? Quote Link to post
Grim Reaper 1
hi guys and gals, i had my s200 tested the other day and it was shooting at 10.5 is it worth turning it up to 12? i use field and target air arms pellets? Not really much point to it mate - as you are, you will be perfectly legal (running at 10.5 ft/lb) with whatever wieght of pellet your rifle is tested with. I really don't think that getting it 'upped' to 11.5 ft/lb is worth the prospective trouble you may face - I mean to say, for the sake of a few yards extra shot distance, and (in respect of power level of the rifle itself) a slightly bigger pair of b*ll*cks, it just ain't worth it pal. As the old saying goes: " If it ain't broke, don't try to mend it " - never a truer word spoken or written, in my opinion. My S310 runs at a gnats knacker over the 11 ft/lb mark, and I am happy with it. I keep it at that level because (for me) its a happy medium in all respects. I know I am legal, I know I am safe whatever pellet they push through it, and I know that there is more than enough kick left in the pellet at 30 yards, and even enough at 40 yards, to do the job intended of it. Hope this helps you bud? All the best, Grim. Edited July 23, 2008 by Grim Reaper Quote Link to post

Grim Reaper 1
so how far can a heavier pellet bump your chrono reading up. I'm not 100% sure of the end figure, but it would depend of course what the pellet wieght was to start with - the results are all relative to the pellet + rifle variables you see? But rest assured, whatever pellet is pushed through the rifle on an official test, if it comes up at 12.01 ft/lb, then it goes down as a firearms offence - which could mean upto 5 years in any one of HM's guest houses - NOT something you want to be happening! That is one reason for having the ComBro chrony - for around £39 or £40, you will always ensure you are within legal limits , and therefore your record (and arse! ) will be safe. Always knowing what your rifle is putting out means you will always be safe in law. Hope this helps you bud? Regards, Grim. Edited July 24, 2008 by Grim Reaper Quote Link to post

Neil, Only YOU can make a suitable judgement on YOUR rifle - of course, the world and his wife can feel free to pass a comment or remark on your rifle, but at the end of the day, the only comment or feeling worth worrying about should be your own! With regards to your 'friend' using your air rifle (I am asking this in a nice way, ok mate?, and in a good frame of mind - therefore no mallice or offence is meant yeah? ): Do YOU know where HE is using YOUR rifle? has HE got permission to use it wherever he is using it? A bit of friendly advice from me to you, if you don't mind Neil? You need to be very careful mate, because when YOU bought and paid for YOUR rifle, YOU had to give YOUR name and address for the register at the shop - therefore, if someone commits an offence with YOUR air rifle, YOU (not him) will be the one to cop it in the neck, as YOUR name (and not his) is on the shop register for that particular rifle, you get me bud? If you must let your friend use your rifle, make sure you are with him when he does so, at least then you will be in a position to know whats going on, inasfar as the rifle is concerned, like? And then, if you were to say, see something happening you didn't like the look of, then you would simply take posession of the rifle again. If you see what i'm saying? End result mate is that you NEED to know whats occuring when your rifle is being used by someone else, yeah? Just a point I thought I'd mention to you. All the best, Grim. 3jackwhite3 2
im suprised noboby has said that at a full fill(200bar) the aa s200 shoots about -1ft/lb and when it gets to about 150-170 it gets to the sweet spot and will be running a bit more powerful 11.5ft/lb Quote Link to post

The S310 also has the 200 bar fill point, but i always fill upto 180 bar - thats the top end of the sweet spot for me, and i refill at around the 130 bar area. That method works well for me, and i know that once filled up, i can start shooting straight off, like. Regards, Grim Edited July 30, 2008 by Grim Reaper Quote Link to post
