ferreterni 29
Just out of interest, and as a topic peice. What terriers do people associate with a good temprement? discounting certain lines, and i kno that each dog is an individual. What are your opinions and experiences? Quote Link to post
sikastag_1 689
my lakelands are as soft as you could get when it comes to people, my jack russel is the same, only problem i have is my oldest lakeland and my jack russel dont get on, i think this is just territory quarrels but as for nature calmness steadyness and just generally good dogs my lakelands and my jack russel (but she aint so steady lol) are good tempramented dogs, but on the other hand ive heard of a few nutty lterriers of these breeds that attack horses, other dogs anything gos just general nutters so like you said mate it depends on the individual dog theres good and bad in every breed. bill88 6
My two black dogs are completely different, the bitch is soft as shite around people and very friendly with other dogs. The dog on the other hand,is something else, while he is also like a puppy around people, and kids, and 100% around stock,he cannot be let near any dog he's not familiar with.On a number of occasions at gamefairs he has locked on to other dogs that have got within range, and now i don't take him anywhere without being muzzled. Malt 379
My JRT is as soft as shite, unless your a rabbit, cat, rat, etc, but the one downstairs from me is a right horrible little twat. She's bad with everybody except the old bloke she belongs to. Quote Link to post

Sounds like every JRT belonging to an old boy i remember as a kid malt I remember one up the road from me that had a hair lip,so it looked like it was snarling all the time and you were never sure whether to touch it or not Quote Link to post

dogs-n-natives 1,182
I like a calm and steady natured dog, with a confident outlook. And ive got to say that most working borders that I have seen up here have a very laid back temprament, until they see some work, when they suddenly switch on. But same cant be said for MOST borders today, as they are bred for money and looks and the temprament has been lost. Quote Link to post
OldNog 432
my fell is the biggest tart you ever did see, always wanting her guts rubbed and jumping up on the sofa with me but if any one tries grabbing at me when shes near she goes bloody mad and latches hold of who ever it is totally different dog when shes working Quote Link to post
