victor 10
What difference would it make crossing them to a greyhound ?They already look fast enough. Butch i think they would be a handy tool.. grey x dogo be intresting to see if any one has got any pics of this type? dogo http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mQObDKSDl_I that guy in the video is priyy irasponsibal, he should have had avest or at least a collar on it, and as soon as his dog started lugging it he should have stuck it . Simoman 110
Dogos were bred to track an animal for miles and miles then have the power to take it down , in my eyes this is stamina and strength add this to the speed of a greyhound and it could be a formidable running dog! a pitbull could not last the duration of hunting that a dogo can , granted the pitbull maybe harder but it could not cope with the level of hunting that a dogo could But what use is that in this country when all we have are rabbits and even when it was legal the fox was the only quarry to bite back, we just don't need those attributes. What lurcher is required to hunt an animal mile for miles and then finish it? When thats needed we have a type of dog called the foxhound........... FJager and his fellow countrymen would have much more knowledge than us and the quarry that could use its skills but as he says most Aussie lads use well tested mixed breeds................ FJager 0
Shadow don't be dissillusioned by the Argentinean hype, an athletic Pit would run absolute rings around a Dogo in a stamina contest, I am not having a go at the Dogo they were bred with the right crosses but in reality they are just another boof headed pigdog, nothing bad and nothing special. Some of the vids that get around show 5 or 6 Dogo's on a boar, this is rubbish, not to mention unsporting, most good pigdogs should be able to handle boar 1 or perhaps 2 out with the big fellas. The catch dog competition you here about involves a boar and a dog in a pen, if they are such great runners why put them in a pen, the South Americans regail stories of these great catch dogs and yet it usually all happened in the confines of a pen, perhaps stick the owner in there. It is a shame you lads cannot hunt Boar with dogs in the UK, it wouldn't take long for the right mix of pigdog to start being bred without the need for Dogo's, Presa's, Ambull's or whatever was the flavour of the month at the time. bobafet 30
it was poor taste but there was a clip on here of a dogo taking on a puma or similar... the dogo never made a sound and never let up... it was made in 1947... maybe the breed has changed a bit since then??i have seen dogo v puma 1x1 and the dogo kill the puma in 9 mins blood all over the place but hard dog i no som 1 in england that has 1 Just my opinion but for a hunter (not you, the owner) to watch their dog take 9 minutes to kill a puma isn't hunting and smacks of cruelty............... the puma was a sheep killer so they set trap for it then let the dog do its job A bullet would be humane and quick. Putting a dog on it for 9 minutes brutalises the hunter and quarry and gives the dog needless stick. Different cultures I guess but not my cup of tea, I like to kill as quick and humanely as possible............ well said simoman Quote Link to post
