Home Brew Barrels Wanted

:) Planning a return to the Home Brew craic. I used to enjoy that. Only I'm finding the available sources of kit, in Eire, to be terribly limited. Then, what the few suppliers actually have on offer is further limited!

Anyway, I need to get a few 'Barrels' in. I'd also be deeply interested - should anyone have one going? - in a Bruheat or Electrim Bin.

I mean, hell; If ye have a Hydrometer knocking about? Give me a shout. Why not? I have Nothing just yet. Every little helps ;)

Anyone gave up and still got their kit knocking about? I'd be interested.

Like I say; Probably better to look to Eire, even the Northern Counties, possibly? Only the postage rates from england really are piss taking!

What ye got, lads? PM's welcome :)

if there's any small-ish things you need, i could post em to you, our local chemist is fairly well-stocked with homebrewing kit. 'fraid i don't have anything for beer production at home, i stick to the production of my lethally-strong "country wine" (half a glass could raise the dead :whistling:;) )

Cheers, Ossie but, the bits and pieces (liturally bits like a Hydometer and stirring paddle) I can get here easy enough along with my order for the actual ingredients. The three main Irish suppliers on line all operate a flat, seven euro carriage fee. No problem there then.

The bit I'm stuck on really is the barrels. I'm seeing a choice of just two or three types here and each shop only has one or two of each in stock :( I'm looking for at least four barrels, preferably of the same type. And the one's I'd favour most are Hambleton Bard basics with the four inch neck opening. No One seems able to get hold of HB just now. Australian firm. Hence I'm fishing around for just about what ever anyone else might have stuck in the shed. But barrels are my main target.

have you asked dean? his mum seems like the kind of person who would have random shit like that knocking about somewhere, or she might know a good-lifer who tried homebrewing & gave up. failing that, stick an ad up in the pub or shop?

ooooh, just found the hambleton bard website... they do a moonshine kit!!!

that kit only produces the alcohol through fermenting Ossie - so the max is about 23% before the yeast will die off. id imagine it would taste pritty naff aswell but ive never tryed it. on the other hand get some decent, high alcohol turbo yeast, a still and get that 23 proof up to 40 odd :whistling:

best of luck with the search Ditch. you tryed ebay? usually a few pieces on there, dont know about ebay Eire though?
