doxhope 2
Great stuff Dawnb... I really like them I rarely shoot anything else but RAW+Fine jpeg these days, I play around with the jpeg, and the best I convert from RAW, My new camera also has the option to shoot in Tiff, and believe it or not these files are massive, I get less frames on my card than I do when shooting RAW+jpeg fine.. Dawn B 212
Thanks all. I think Ill always use RAW now Donkey, the quality is better, apart from having to convert them later to JPEG, I find them much better. Doxhope. I have a TIFF setting too, I know a lot of people use this when printing large prints etc... so would fit with what you say. The only set back with RAW is not getting so many on a CF card. Yip that can be a drawback..I get 119 on a 4gb card if Im shooting 14Bit, if Im shooting at 12Bit I get 145..I print all my stuff to A3 in jpeg, excellent...Just have to take plenty of cards

Dawn B 212
You get the same frames per second Gambler on high speed. I use the software that came with the camera, the Canon photo professional. Thanks for your comments. Dawn.
Dawn B 212
Sorry Gambler, I misunderstood what your wrote. I reckon you get around 10/12 on a maximum burst in RAW, probably 5 frames per second on high speed setting, perhaps a little less. A lot depends on your CF card, the write speed etc.. doxhope 2
How many frames per second and frame bursts do you lose when you shoot continuously in RAW on a 40D ? If you're going to buy a new Canon D-SLR Darcy I think all are suppiled with the software to convert RAW files . And they are bleedin massive ! Yip your right matie, canon supply the software with the camera
Tis TM 8
I'm completely lost on the technical speak of this thread  ... but those shots are stunning Dawn, I love how the water shinning on the beak is so well picked up. Hopefully one day, I'll get the time to be able to do a college course on digital photography........ till then
