Freedom of speech

Recommended Posts

I was having a bit of a debate in the local village today with some Tosser, well what happened is that i was in the tractor & as a car came towards me i realised he wasn't going to stop, so i ended up having to put the tractor in the hedge.

As he pulled at the side of me i called him a few choice names, " you feckin C :censored: t, what the feck are you playing at you feckin idiot.

With that his reply was, " do you know i could have you arrested under section 5, verbal assault ", so i replied " do you know i could drive this tractor over the top of your feckin car you tosser ". :whistling:

Later in the day i received a phone call from the local police about the incident, after telling the local bobby(who i know) what happened, he just laughed & said thats people for you, it could have turned out some what worse than it did for me because of the way this country is going.

What ever happened to freedom of speech ? :hmm::hmm:

verbal assault, i THOUGHT, meant to threaten someone...... as in "You stupid C****, I'm going to run your car over with my tractor" .... what you did wasnt threatening. but thats his word against yours.

next time run him over and hide the evidence...

JUST KIDDING!!

Would you want real freedom of speech though and that this entails? Look at some of the more liberal countries in mainland Europe…you’ve got a paedophile party in the Netherlands and the Nazi Party in Denmark. What about David Irving and his ilk?

I know it’s veering away from the original question but do you have to draw the line somewhere?

Bloody tractor drivers!!!!! :big_boss:

Only kidding mate, we get plenty of idiots round here in the holiday season. We've mostly country roads round here, and most of the holidaymakers want to drive as far away from the hedges as they can. I swear they'd rather crash into you than risk scratching their cars on the hedges, and the buggers won't stop either.

think your mistaking freedom of speech (the right to voice an opinion) with being verbally offensive,

if some chav in trackies and and a hoody stood on the street corner shouting "oi you f**king c**t" at you is that there right through freedom of speech??

i think not

freedom of speech also comes with a fine print .... "Freedom to Ignore" .... at least it used to be that way over here.

kids often times shout taunts and rude remarks and people just keep walking. sort of makes as much sense as insulting strangers mom. unless they actually know your mother then why get into a fight over whether or not she's stupid, fat, ugly or a whore?

ok i know thats getting into manly pride and standing up for your family and such things. but i dont know how many kids i knew in school (boys, all of them) that got into bloody-nosed fist fights because someone insulted other's mother. why is it that when someone taunts you you cant just walk away or let it go? no way! thats being a wimp, right? you have to get even.. But you cant just go and jack someone's jaw over a rude comment. instead you take them to court. now thats improvement lol the local governments benefit from that kind of idiocy.

:hmm: Wasn't our 'Compo', was it?

:clapper:

I believe the saying is a little knowledge is a dangerous thing!

The idiot in the car knew half of something and then started professing

he was alluding to section 5 of the public order act, it's not verbal assault (wtf is that) its causing harrasment alarm or distress, usually you need warning by a copper to shut up before you get arrested for that.

And questioning someones bad driving doesn't really fall into the offence

I would quote the statute as i know DS likes it when i do, but i dont want him getting too excited about it :toast:

I also live in an area that is mainly country roads, and unfortunately the road I live near to is a direct route to several caravan and camping sites. The Grockels pass by at break neck speeds towing their sheds and I swear they use the cats eyes as a guide, driving by Braille we call it round here, you can hear them go past by the ‘be dum be dum be dum’ noise car wheels make as they run over the cats eyes.
