Dowen Pest Control Solutions 0
Well there has been a bit of a mix up at the vets i wanted my hob polecat vasectomised so he could mate my jills and the vet has castrated him. I have been told that a castrated hob will not mate with the jills. So really gutted if i got another hob and had him vasectomised whould i be able to keep him with the catrated one and jills or would they fight any ideas would be helpful regards Dowen. wabbithunter_15 0
vets........... what can you do with them? to answer your question would mean i would be lying as i havnt a clue, i think you might be alryt but if not you can separate them in mating season, they should be fine when the jills arnt in season Quote Link to post
gnipper 6,866
The vasectomised hob will still have all his urges including the fighting one so the castrated hob would be in for a rough (and dry) time of things, the V hob might be alright with the jills after he's mated them and leave them alone but then again he might not. I've also heard of castrated hobs knocking jills out of season too. Did your vet compensate you? Its happened to a few others, i'd be kicking off personally Quote Link to post

Dowen Pest Control Solutions 0
Yes i told the receptionist Stubby i wanted the snip for the hob but i was suprised i didnt have any contact with the vet before operation to be honest didnt even know about castration thought snip was the norm. But i think you should see the vet before operation just to make sure your singing from the same him sheet . Im just gutted as i was happy with 2 jills and 1 hob now it looks like having to get another and then having snip to serve jills i shall see i will see the vets and see what we can sort out but they cant put them back can they. The last one i had castrated a few years ago i had to take the ferret the week before the operation & he was given a check up, heart etc & it was discussed what i wanted there with a vet, personally i would check the morning you drop off with them saying its a vasectomy or better still put a sticky label on the carrier saying vasectomy not castration on it, then they cant say they didnt know Quote Link to post
stubby 175
true kay, I think too many people, leave it upto the vet, as his "job" is looked upon as knowledgable, I made certain, that I checked the vet out first, had experience doing op's on ferts, and on more than one occassion, made them realise is was vasectamising and not castration (sorry to hijack your topic dowen) Quote Link to post
