Greyman 33,169 Posted yesterday at 12:07 Report Share Posted yesterday at 12:07 What is the protection status of cormorants on inland waters I know some round here shoot shit out of them and I know some with a ticket for a certain amount to cull each year etc but was wondering if an old boy and an old dog were walking along a canal and one popped up nearby with a lovely fish in its mouth and the old fella just happened to have a lovely yew catty in his hand with an 8 mmΒ ball bearing in the pouch and in an instant faster than the speed of light without a moment to process his thoughts drew and fired killing said cormorant stone dead with an absolutely incredible head shot, would that be classed as illegal or one of the best shots and kills of his entire life, was just asking for a mate 1

Daniel cain 50,356 Posted yesterday at 15:26 Report Share Posted yesterday at 15:26 need to apply for the correct license...that will only allow you to shoot a certain number...3/10Β per season... I look aboutΒ first and take my chances,I will kill them all on sight, along with gosanders and otters...by whatever means..
Daniel cain 50,356 Posted yesterday at 15:45 Report Share Posted yesterday at 15:45 I've been told that you can,Β catch them usingΒ Β dead roach, popped up ,just below the surface on poly balls on a good wire trace with trebles, tied to a Β lengthΒ of strong cord fixed to a weight, attach a rope to the weight..they dive down ,grab the bait then come to the surface to swallow, you then handline them in,and give them a whack with aΒ 20 Oz hammer.. apparently it's best too, stayΒ there,on the bank, don't leave them over night or unattended for obvious reasons
