I've had the conversation regarding why I don't want any form of pure bred pit bull ( really any dog honestly) many times with various people who like dogs . Anyhow I've heard , I can't count how many times ,when it comes to pits that  "well you know they were called Nanny dogs in England and people would have them watch there kids !"  I've yet to see any actual documentation on this but I've heard it so much I'm curious.  Any of y'all have any clue where this may have come from ( besides people just making shit up) ? Figured y'all might have some odd breed or line of dog that might look like a pit or something that was used .. possibly..back in the day for something like a companion dog for kids and people have gotten confused but idk ..... So anyone have any ideas where this idea of pits being Nanny dogs came from ?

A lad down the road as two bully's and I swear I've seen a lot of big dogs but he's got one that's got a neck as big as one of the old round metal dustbins, we measured him up to get a collar made and it was just under 30 inch , fcuk it started growling and he was saying he's OK he just talking to ya he's soft as shyt, i left him to measure up because I felt uneasy being around this dog, only way I could describe this dog is imagine a lion with his mane chopped off, how anyone can have these type of dogs near kids at any time is crazy because the only way you stopping one his a bullet.

We had a Presa x bitch about 20 years ago and we called her Nanna. She would hang around the children, mainly for food.  The kids could climb all over her and she loved it. She would follow them everywhere and was super alert when anyone new was about, so much so, if we knew someone was about that she wasn't familiar with, she was put way, it wasn't worth the risk.

I trusted her massively. Would I of left her with the children?  No, there are too many variables in life.

Wolfdog, judging by YouTube, when it comes to dogs, there are even more f**k wit American dog fantasists than the UK.

There are multiple  videos of dogs guarding new borns, fecking enormous, filthy beasts with awesome jaw power left  alone with helpless, precious babies. WTF? The parents are cretins and should be horse whipped for stupidity and negligence.

Same with the videos of dogs greeting returning soldiers. Nauseous, sentimental bollocks. Any sane returning soldier would kick the dog out of the way and grab hold of his Mrs and take her somewhere private. Lol

Walt Disney has a lot to answer for.

I've always had dogs but ffs, I'm not that needy that I rely on their 'love' and ' devotion'.

There's something genuinely sad about people who value their relationships with dogs above their human relationships.
