Don’t think it was Darcy’s was it? Think it was his big mates dog??

I remember Mik posting that he had lined a bitch with Darcys Scout?, a saluki  cross. But could be dementia .

He was very complimentary about Darcy taking the trouble to meet him and allow the meeting.

Who was the Scots lad you had a big deerhound x from?

He had 2 cracking deer/ greys from Trevor Cooke.

Im sat in a pub, all tartan and tat with my Mrs and whippet. The bloke resembling Cat Weasel with the deerhound,  strikes up a conversation about sight hounds. He asks if my whippet has much hunt

Them noodle legs ain’t never climbed a gate or walked a field in there life

Seen thicker ankles with a message tied to them.

And yet the best dog I ever seen was a deerhound cross and its mother which was Doxhope stuff I believe put 600 roe on the floor in her working career……go figure huh ?

And a show dog aswell!😂👍

I gave it Supreme Champion at Neilson Working Terrier Show in Glasgow.

Fancy that; a show dog that works .
Cheers.

There was s a member called Scottish harehunter, who bred a litter of Deerhound x Wheaton bull greyhounds would have been 7)8 yrs back..wheaton side came from dogs I know from Wales....I messaged and asked for a pup...think he was asking £500/600 at the time...that's a few quid when you add up,taking time of work and driving from Wales to collect ....didn't have the decency to even message me back🙄... thankfully another  member off here ,heard through mutual friends, that I was looking for a big rough coated runner,so  offered me my current Wheaton bull grey bitch...she ended up 27 tts and does everything I've ever asked of her...I'm glad in a way... Because everything happens for a reason 😉👍

A good bigun is always handier than a good littleun !
I am a fan of big machines of dogs, it’s just what I like.

I've seen quite a few first and second cross deerhound/greyhounds in my time, entered correctly and got a fair crack of the whip. They didn't do it for me, but each to their own. A lurcher type with deerhound blood amongst other types seemed to be a more versatile animal. I think the main reason first crosses were popular was simply the fact they looked the part, racy shape, rough coated and usually dark brindle/ grey etc.
