Buddy form Canada cam down to visit me and the wife and wanted to go to New Orleans so...

...they went and got a tour guide to yap about movies instead of just winging it and going eating everything

I can't handle tour guides . Like being at school.

As you say take off on your own and explore is the way to go.

Do they still do those New Orleans funerals? I'm thinking about one pretty soon.

Will be in New Orleans for a couple of days in January, part of our getting lost in America tour lol.. won't be using a tour guide at any time, part of the fun is stumbling on stuff and finding your own way..

Well just to let you know....a lot of the food is over hyped . Like it's not bad ...just not with the money honestly. Decent part of my day was

"Omg we need to go here I saw it imon tic Tok !! It's supposed to be SO GOOD"

Followed by  

"🫤 This ..this wasn't worth $25"

 

But there both terrified of going off the beaten track ..and honestly with my buddy wanting to compare everything to Canada and being a lil rude ....well not purposely she just didn't get Southen manners and all... And my wife not having the best situational awareness that's probably for the best

Exactly,I mean he was a cool guy and tried to be fun...and they kinda paid him to just walk around and talk about all the movies and stuff that where shot there but Lord I wanted to bang my head on a brick wall 70% of the time.... That and I just don't like tourist traps

 

O and yeah they still do those funerals

Im a big fan of American blues in general. Lots of the Stones' tracks and Clapton's too were basically tribute tracks to the old blues stars' work.

Lomax did us all a favour preserving black music. I like the prison songs and field songs he recorded. The track  Black Betty which had a lot of commercial success originated as a prison song from way back.

My Mrs hates the blues. So I have to play it with headphones. She says the sound and lyrics are depressing, but it's just life.

No taste poor woman.
