I read somewhere that stealing birds in Glasgow is a popular sport. Not breaking into lofts, but allowing cock birds to display to hens and bring them back to the loft. Some cock birds are very attractive to hens and can bring any amount of females home. Not entirely sure how it works. But that's the basic principle.

I have the same problem. But a shitty stick works wonders.

Here's a question. If birds eggs are swapped and put under a different species,  the nestlings believe they are the same species as the foster parents. Condors have to be raised by glove puppets resembling condors and never set eyes on human beings. Or else they become imprinted on humans. So how come cuckoos arent affected? And how the hell do they know where to migrate to since they have no parents or flock to follow?

A mystery of nature for sure.

Me you mackem an lots of other lads stay in same scheme an have loft, Mon tues an weds we can fly out birds in pairs for excersize , Thur fri sat sun you fly them single an will choose what to fly depending on what you can see in sky, you see mackems hen you let your cocknbird out, the longer you keep your bird away from his mate, an get him full a steam an horny as a teenage catholic, the harder they will work when called upon, but also downside is it may land on other guys board an his hood will catch it when he pulls his trap, you keep what you catch but usually have an argument over it an often a fight haha it’s best sport in world for me, will have another loft/dookit when finally settled at new spot haha

He flys his agajnst feral pigeons cos he ain’t got nobody else local with same birds mate, great sport, i done same when I moved to England due to lack a competition. Was better than just keeping fat pet pigeons haha they had earn there corn haha

My friend hatched half dozen geese eggs ,they only see his mrs ,and seemed imprinted to me ,followed her like mum ,and still steady now ,when im looking after them ,always steady ,all over you ,but inquisitive not aggressive

The chick sitting on the duck was an Irish Hennie game fowl, hatched by the duck;

It obviously thought it was a duck and followed the duck into the pond and promptly drowned !

You must give off female pheromones mate. Don't knock it and I for one will not judge you.

Females are notoriously successful salmon fishers. The biggest salmon ever landed in the  UK was caught by a woman. I know guys who will embrace a woman, (hopefully known to them) before they come to fish. Others will deliberately step in cow pee. 

I've heard of one guy who wears his wife's knickers. But that could be a fetish. Lol

My lady in her younger days caught more and probably bigger salmon than most brit salmon anglers,even now she loves salmon fishing.

Brit record 64 lb caught by georgina ballantine,huge fish,imagine catching this running up a UK river.

This is not fishermen's tall tale. But it is a one that got away story.

A friend hooked a salmon in the same category as that fish. I saw it break the surface and it was bigger than any fish I've seen or caught. I've seen them over 30 lbs in the flesh and over 40 stuffed. This fish was much, much bigger. I remember thinking its head was like a grey galvanised bucket.

It broke his rod and then his line. We just stood there absolutely stunned and in silence for five minutes or so at what we had witnessed.

I regularly get flash backs to that fish.He says he gets flashbacks  every day.lol

The next day he caught a 28 pounder. And it was like a tiddler in comparison.

I've also witnessed a fish, a big black kelt so big it wouldn't fit a landing net. It too broke the fella's line.

The one below, mysteriously upside down, is in Carlisle museum. 40 odd pound.

I think the difference might be hanted means a racing bird could be let loose in France and find its way back to the loft, whereas settled or homed bird such as a high flyer, tumbler, etc doesn’t stray far from its loft.

Just my take on it.

By the way, I’ve heard women, many years ago refer to their husbands being hanted to a certain pub or working mens club, such as , “that buggers hanted to that bloody pub !”
