Rickshaw swami 4,336
I've always been fascinated by the different tools I have seen different people use. From chainsaws to backwards bent pitchforks. When I'm digging fox or groundhog I use traditional tools. In the swamps in a kayak different rules apply.I need lightweight disposable tools designed for digging roots in between trees.I just replaced some of my tools for the start of the season. Went to hardware store. I put a square hook in the end of the industrial broomstick. This walking stick helps me get up and down muddy banks by hooking tree roots. It can also be used as a chew toy for a mad beaver when you are in a bad situation. Next I built this years swamp shovel.I placed last years shovel beside the new one to get the length right. Chopped off most of the handle.Put the rubber grip on but the most important part is I sharpened it until it could shave a few hairs.I keep a plastic tool tray in the bottom of my rucksack otherwise this shovel would slice right through. Its great for chopping roots in the swamp. It would be useless anywhere else. here's all my tools for the swamp. The bottom of picture is 22 rifle that's waterproof and floats which is important in my hunting.Shot off a few clips to make sure it was working. Tossed everything in the rucksack.Headed to the swamps next week. I'd love to hear about some of the unique tools yall have encountered. Edited 12 hours ago by Rickshaw swami 5 Quote Link to post
