Daughter set off this morning on an epic adventure they are heading to the peak forest canal somewhere up toward Manchester to get some paintwork finished on the boat then across to rugby were the boa

That’s iron in the rocks through the tunnel that colours the water mate anyways they just gone through and on there way again

On there way to the paint shop and a snake bridge designed so the horses pulling the boats never had to undue the rope

Water got so low the boat had to be towed out the paint booth but they are back through the harecastle tunnel before it gets closed and on the Trent and Mersey which is river fed and still has water in

I was having a look there’s a boat for sale moored in King’s Cross £110k I thought f**k me that’s cheap to live in London. Then I looked further £15k a year for mooring fees and other costs

If it was £30k and you owned it would be one thing but I think these were river fees or something I’m sure grey man will know more and be able to say

You pay for a boating licence, couple of hundred a yr, insurance etc, then you either pay for a  continuous cruising licence (move every 2 weeks) or a residential mooring- space is at a premium towards London -spending 100 k on a boat and then 15/20k for your permanent mooring spot per year...is still  a hell of a lot cheaper than renting or  buying a 1 bed flat etc...its the only way most folks can get a foot on the rung down that way.....living aboard full-time you want a wide beam for the space... problem is,you get charged double that of a traditional narrow boat, there's pros and cons to it all, personally I wouldn't entertain taking the leap, until I had the right residential mooring, makes life alot easier, you won't be worrying about your property getting smashed up and robbed.... because alot of that goes on👍

Good stuff it’s not something I think I’d ever do personally but fair play to anyone who feels like a change is needed and takes the plunge. Like everything else it all about location and being able to live in comfort ain’t it

Like everything else....won't be long before the government wig on...and start  doubling the costs of it all and squeeze people out😔...there's no such thing as freedom here in the UK..sadly it's just an illusion 👍
