I think it’s only the first crosses that go 28/29” mate. Second crosses can be a lot smaller.  I had an Ashington bred second cross dog, early 70’s , that went 25/26”. When he went over a

I don't know anyone who breeds them I got him from a lad that was packing in. I had his brother but he had a bad accident in his first season last year and had to be pts so jumped at this one when he came up. He had a good start with the lad last year so I'm looking forward to running him this season

Absolute stunner mate. How's the temperament regarding other dogs and children? I'm on the lookout for a deerhound hybrid and the the number one consideration for me is a calm, sensible temperament as the dog will spend a lot of time with out with my young Grandchildren.

What age is your deerhound bitch, if she got any coursing blood in her pedigree it will certainly help and she will work well for you, all the xs you mention about breeding her sound right to me, just my preference but i would stick to deerxgrey  first cross. Just remember mate dont try and start her too young as deerhound and deerhound hybrids take a while to fully mature usually about  18 months before i used  to give them a bit of proper work , but thats up to the individual that owns  them, but saying that atb with her, what pedigree is in her breeding.

she’s got doxhope and kilbourne in her blood, there the 2 names i noticed that are kind of more well known

Its getting harder to find good deerhound blood with proper working stock in it these days, almost non existent just like good working bedlington blood as rare as hens teeth, i always loved and kept deerhoundx greys, from the1970s, the ones that  i would go for now and would give a try to would be the type that charts is keeping now like me the man well knows what to expect and the capabilities of the deerhound x.i would still be in the market if the right stuff came along, i believe some of the irish boys are still breeding them at at realistic prices instead of telephone numbers, good luck in your search.

Seen a few photos of pures in Northern Ireland doing all you could ask
