I wish I had never seen a badger, or more correctly once the UK badger became the most protected species of animal in the world.

eastcoast 4,468
Once mooching about on a local farm with my air rifle. Would have been 14/15 year old. No permission but the tenant farmer was not too bothered and most stuff had been poached out years ago. The bordering farm was a little bit different and some lads did rent the shooting for the little that was there. Anyway, this day I spotted woodies feeding on the ground, just across the border and tried to stalk them. Not a tactic that had been successful in the past but this time it was different. Getting ever closer and closer, I had become a Ninja! Almost within shooting range and heart almost pounding out of my chest when got the feeling of being watched. Took my eyes off the pigeons and seen a bloke standing in the dyke holding a shotgun with a bemused look on his face. Bemused because he had watched me stalk his decoy pattern. Bemusement turned to anger. Fair play to him, he told me to feck off or would go to the farmhouse and call the police. Never been that clever when it comes to pigeons. 1
