Not an Air Sporter looking at the underside so if it is a BSA then I guess it is a Mercury.

Phil

Doesn't all Mercury have the company writing on the guns where the scopes sit phill. ? There's nothing on this gun at all to say what gun it is.

Bangers have a look around the breech area or under the barrel for a number and then do a search on the site attached assuming it’s a BSA I’ve  got a 1953 BSA 177 Cadet.

Use this list to find your BSA Prefix Codes for Airguns and Rimfire Rifles.

Sorry mate my mistake it is a mercury it does say BSA mercury under the scopes. Need to get my eyes tested. Lol. That's the serial number too. When did they bring the mercury out. Its more than 30 years because I remember as a kid my mate having one. I was around 13 then when he had that.

If that serial number starts with ZB then it’s this period

 ZB Mercury MK II .22  1974 - 1978

As for restoration my Cadet is still unrestored but there’s plenty on here who have restored classic airguns have a look on the classic thread.

What scopes are them that's on the gun on my images. Doesn't say owt on them. What do you call them cross-hairs never seen any like that before.

Haven’t a clue what scope it is but the reticle looks like a ballistic reticle

The ballistic reticle is a perfect partner when you are thinking about taking long range shots or are using the rifle scope for sport shooting. The aiming points under the centre of the cross will help you to calculate the distance on which your target is located.
