jukel123 9,229
I don't think it's a school's job to celebrate any religious dates or ceremonies. It takes us all back to primitive times. When I am fuhrer, all religious clothing and emblems will only be allowed to be displayed at home. Religious faith schools would be abolished. For those offended by this schools actions, when did you last go to church? Aren't you horrified by the child grooming associated with ALL religious faiths? So I'm with the decision taken by the school. If parents want to celebrate Easter and tell stories of Jesus' crucifixion and how he arose from the dead. And how bread and wine, when blessed, becomes Jesus' flesh and blood then that's their decision. For me they are spooky stories more in keeping with Halloween. I think kids would rather be given an Easter egg.
chartpolski 27,351
Isn’t Easter originally a pagan festival, named after the pagan goddess Eastore ? The Easter egg was a symbol of rebirth to the pagans, the birds started laying in the spring after the winter. The Easter bunny is actually a hare, worshiped by the pagans as a mystical beast. The Christians simply incorporated Easter into their own religion, as they did with many other pagan festivals, such as the Christmas tree, to bring the pagans to eventually turn to Christianity. Here endeth today’s lesson ! LOL ! Cheers. 2

I lost my identity years ago then. I don't need any religious charlatan to tell me how to behave. Imo, parents should not perpetuate myths. They should tell their kids the truth as they see it. Active church goers are in a tiny minority in the UK and are mostly made up of elderly females. Perhaps they worry more than men. Why should churchgoers and a bunch of dossing bishops in the House of Lords and elsewhere dictate what is taught in schools? It's undemocratic.

That's great being with the school but by what you wrote they would have to abolish all the other celebrations...but they haven't

No, but I take it you are married, christened, celebrate Christian holidays like Easter & Christmas, believe in Common Law, etc?
chartpolski 27,351
A teaching union is to advise teachers to add to their curriculum that Reform is “far right and racist”. That is undemocratic and brainwashing kids. Schools should concentrate on the “three R’s” before religious and political dogma. Cheers.
