Quest 110
I love to hunt over here it’s hard to get a tag now that our deer herds are way down due to the drought that we’ve been experiencing lately. We also have CWD disease that been killing our deer and it’s slowly spreading. There’s been no evidence that humans can get it yet. How’s it over there? 1 Quote Link to post

How does the tag system work and what's with public land , can anybody hunt it ? Over hear we have had a increase in general in deer numbers. With species spreading to county's were they have not been seen before . I love watching the bow hunting on YouTube for whitetails Turkey's elk ect. Sadly it's illegal over hear so 3d targets only. For me it looks like you guys over there live in a hunters paradise. Quote Link to post

Tags are different state to State, some are a lottery some you have to buy some you just go get as a tracking deal for fish and game. Here in MS no tag for the most part Public land is basically just land designated open for public recreation. Anyone can go use it. Depending on why you do though you need be be in the right place with the right license. Like most national forests down here at public but to hunt you need a license, and have to be in the right zone. 1 Quote Link to post

I love Utah! Maybe the best state we have. Deer tags are mostly over the counter here in Michigan. Bear, and Elk are draws. Bear you can get pretty frequently. but Elk is like winning the lottery. They are pretty much begging us to shoot does in the lower portion of the state. But access is an issue. Below is what our tags allow us to take. Leo Sayer public land here is owned by the public. Held in trust by either the state or the federal government. Open to just about everything you may want to do outdoors.. But you would be smart the wear orange or hi-viz during hunting season. 2 Quote Link to post

Deer numbers in the UK are at an all time high , with the invasive species like muntjac , CWD (Chinese water deer) and sika spreading year on year .Our native ( since Roman times) Fallow are at pest levels in some parts of the UK .The two permissions I had which totalled 1700acres in southern England I was culling around 130/140 per season , my mate who now manages it is taking 170/ 180 although he has increased the land area by 300 acres ..99% fallow .. i had a few guys from the states out stalking with me , mostly mates of mates , they couldn’t believe how much freedom we have to shoot with regard to species and numbers , though the freedom to own and use firearms is severely curtailed in what we can have and for what reasons .. A mate ( who didn’t shoot) rang me one day to see if I would take out his American friend who was over on holiday with his wife , a day or so later we met up and had a few practice shots just to make sure he could shoot .The first morning I think he got three , when I tell you he was made up he was proper made up ! ..over the next three week's he was out every day I was , that was usually four or five times a week , lamping foxes and rabbits was a whole new experience ! ..I think he had close on 20 fallow , all cull animals , which was more than he had shot in over ten years back home .. I was not flavour of the day with his wife … 1 Quote Link to post
