DIDO.1 22,864
Rhyl and Prestatyn among areas in Denbighshire set to be underwater by 2030 WWW.RHYLJOURNAL.CO.UK Created by Climate Central, the interactive map shows areas threatened by sea level rise and... Thank fck for that....a climate change positive, Rhyl is going to be under water in just 7 years.
jukel123 9,798
Joking aside, people near me continue to buy houses metres from the high tide line. Houses which to my memory have already flooded. It's as though they don't believe the forecasts. I know the reason for rising seas and global warming is disputed, but nobody disputes tides are getting bigger and rivers flood more frequently. These buyers are either poorly advised, stupid or both.

I'd agree rivers are flooding, but round here I'd say that's just because all the fields are being concreted over and water is getting into the rivers quicker. A local housing estate was flooded in one low lying corner and everyone, including the local MP, was commenting on climate change.....yet I have a photo somewhere of me and my mates playing in the flood water in our under pants in exactly the same spot when the land was just fields 1
paulus 26
This climate change thing, I was reading something the other day on CO2 levels, If the CO2 level falls bellow 2ppm then all life on this planet would die, Trees remove CO2 from the atmosphere, So are all these problems more to do with deforestation and building new houses than it has to do with driving a petrol car?. jukel123 9,798
The tides are definitely getting bigger. But the change is different compared to different areas. Where I am the earth is still springing up from being flattened by the weight of ice in the ice age. Hence Its only a millimetre per year. Elsewhere in the UK its higher. I have a friend who lives right on the foreshore. He has a conservatory with a panoramic view over the estuary where a few of us get pissed after shooting geese at dusk. Two years back there was a hell of a storm and the tide entered the conservatory whilst we were drinking and surrounded the whole house. First time in living memory. Are tides actually rising higher in a measurable way? I'm not arguing with you, just wondering if that's actually happening

ryaldinhio 5,188
Throughout secondary school I was taught Doncaster (where I live) would be a coastal town by 2020. Feel like taking out a legal case because I have had to buy a caravan now on the east coast to be by the sea, which by the way, hasn't f***ing moved! Climate change is a load of bollox. With a little bit of research you can find facts and figures on it but essentially as above the impact of deforestation far outweighs the impact of industry and cars etc. However, over all IMO we humans are a parasite on this earth that will at some point be wiped out to protect the earth....which has been through much worse than we have! jukel123 9,798
Every man and his dog has a theory about climate change. Many people seem to see it as some sort of left wing conspiracy. Yet we accept scientists know their stuff in most other branches of science ( except Covid which many see as another conspiracy). I believe it and I also believe in vaccination against Covid. If that makes me a mug then I'm an alive mug who has seen climate change happen in my lifetime. Not much point in arguing the toss because we then get into the science which not many people fully understand, including me.
