I'd love to get some British finches but the rest of the shed is going to be a bit of a man cave /workshop so worried they will be a bit nervous and flighty. Hoping to put some laying quail in the bottom for my lad so he will be in and out.

Maybe some canaries but I've always liked lovebirds so I'm undecided. I'll get it finished then let my lad start looking at different birds. Gutted we missed Stafford show today, would of been good for him to look around

Get it painted first pal, back walls an wire an the birds will be a lot prettier an easier to see, will also seal the corners an joins an stuff to stop mites goin mad in the crevices ? lookin real good tho ?

Didn't think about that, I've left loads of corners and little gaps. I'll put em in for now but make sure it's done over the summer ???

Thanks

Be easy to cage them up for a bit in summer an get it done, not sure what colour is best for red factors as never had them but the colour you use for back depends on type you keep as ot shows colours off, look at red factor show cages an use same colour ? an paint the wire black with a roller, an you’ll see a big difference, the mesh looks big in photo but might just be pic, jist make sure they can’t get out an there’s nowt there of them ?

Maybe a light blue seeing as it is a little dark in the corner in there and deffo do the work before the birds go in as there'll get breeding and then they can't be moved till the end of summer as such, also remind your lad to close the shed door before the flight door is ever opened...

Nice size flight mate be nice when its painted or even better some cladding on. There a place in bradford does seconds called cladding warehouse 10ft lengths by 5ft in width 2mm or 3mm. Alot easy to clean , just hot soapy water an jobs done.  But if your just guna paint do like lads have said make sure your sealing up all areas that mites can Bury deep within the crevices because there a b*****d once you get them. When you buying new birds in makesure you put them aside first in a small cage out of the way of your birdroom an treat them for mite. It's just to be safe that they've not got any on them an transferring them to your birds an birdroom. Atb tho mate for this season. I built these last season an put some cladding on

Come end of season a will gift you a pair of timbrados to get your numbers up but you should be okay with young you get of the reds . I use them for feeders will be over run with them lol . I've got 5 pairs on now all on eggs for the first round. So fingers crossed they rear them well a should have about 20 odd birds. It's only because there young birds I've kept them on the eggs otherwise a would just bin the eggs an put my goldfinch eggs under the hens.
