Thing is, lads; I have a bare five foot square of block to paint. It's indoors and will be glossed.

Not being in the trade, I don't have left over Sealers and Sandtext paints. I'll need to go and buy shit.

Let me simplify this for everyone :)  This fukking monstrosity sits in my kitchen. It's served its purpose well, over the years. A jerry built solution to a pressing need.

Now? I've finally got sick of the sight of it and am going to drag all that shit out. Frame it out and put beautiful doors on it. It'll become the centre piece of the room!

I just want to match those blocks in with all the gorgeously painted and decorative wood.

I wouldn't have their shit in my place, mate! This place is over a century old and lived in by generations of the same family. I fully respect its heritage and like to keep with the spirit of the place.

What I always try to do is think: " They were small farmers. Working their fingers to the bone to survive. They used hardboard because it was cheap. What would they have Liked to have done, could they afford a bit of flash? "

Thus, I tear down the hard board and put up tongue and groove panelling. with proper skirting and trims :)

I'm gonna make that pile of blocks and planks into an absolute centre piece. You watch!

glad in ply paint the ply ..

? I'll have you know, sir; I once took it into my head to box in a rather ugly lump of a meter. Big, gray, steel box with pipes and shit. It was bang in the corner of my fukking room!

I'm (was) a Rat Catcher. But, I'm a Trier! I set too. Didn't have a clue. Hardly any tools. But, off I went.

I made a box round it. Then, I got all sorts of 'Moulding'? 'L' shaped lengths of timber. I cut angles at the ends of it. I somehow spliced 'V' shaped corner joints. All sorts. Stained and painted it. Thought it looked better.

One day, a very experienced and ridiculously expert joiner friend of mine called round. Sort of guy who could give 'Kanny' a run for his money.

He sat there, smoking a roll up and staring at my meter box for some time. He seemed entranced by it.

Finally, he spoke: " Ye know what? I've been in this game over fifty years now. And I've known fully trained and time served men who wouldn't have a chance of turning out a piece of work like that. "

? I really didn't know what to say!!!

But, that's the gods honest truth. I'm not saying I'm any good. But, I Plan like fukk. I write and draw and spend for ever, going over every last tiny detail. Then I, very slowly, do my best.

I've been shopping. It's in hand now. Just need to muster the energy to begin. It's been a busy day. I'm fukked!

Not happy with the range of paints the shop offers either. Think I'll try another place. I have this particular shade in mind. No way I'm spending the rest of my days thinking; " Naah. That's just not right :( " Fukk That!
