Then I notices all the shite splatted about and looks up. 20 big nests and the sky is full of swaking herons. I hadn't even heard em. It's strange because I'm normally on the ball....must of been in a world of my own while going through the motions of sneaking about. I got the fck out of there because I knew there were so many people on vantage points around. I was right to move because as I walked out a different way I walked straight through a line of twitchers on a banking with telescopes all trained on the heronary. Not one looked at me or removed there eyes from the scopes. Fcking weirdos
jok 3,487
Is the clue in, either the tall trees with lots of nests, the amount of crap on the undergrowth or the shell itself? Corvid and Rook in particular spring to mind. Jok.

Ken's Deputy 4,463
If it is just a heron? I'd just put it down to experience! Was talking to a mate about birds eggs, just the other day. Started when he asked me what colour a robins are. Ended up explaining to him how " Robins egg blue " is a septic import. And that what they call a robin is actually a thrush. Then, it sort of morphed into a massive fukking discussion of birds eggs colours. Cool bit though was when we got round to Dunnocks. I was saying how the only bird of about our robins size, that laid sky blue eggs, was a dunnock. He was saying how he'd found a next in what he initially described as an old tea pot, or some such thing. I said how they normally nest in a hedge of bramble patch. But, then explained how I Have found them practically on the ground, amongst a tangle of old grass and shit. With that, he said that's Exactly where this tea pot thing was! I thought That was worth a few points
