The petition seemed a bit 'typical anti' stuff but if there's some sense to it then I'd be in support. It's maybe premature to allow commercial fishing for them but sport fishing, catch and release if viable, surely can't be lumped in with the commercial industry. Spearfishing too maybe. I honestly don't know, just interested to hear what folks think. 2 Quote Link to post

I do think there is a need to preserve things and they are hunted hard over sees have a little look for a program called wicked tuna they are being chased everywhere by everybody even have helicopters spotting them then chased down and speared by boat as well as rod and line but they have to get past the trawlers and long liners first have said it before the best way to make an animal extinct is to make it a delicacy and when your paying tens of 1000 for one fish the writing is on the wall, trouble is we struggle to make compromises and just go from one extreme to another as in the case of badgers, one minute anything goes next your up the jail for looking at a hole in the ground then back up to epidemic proportions so we can start shooting them to control numbers, if we could just sit down and work out what’s best for everyone including the fish everyone would be happy, but we won’t 4 Quote Link to post

You're not aloud to Target Bluefin Tuna. You're not aloud to land Bluefin Tuna you're not aloud to sell or give away Bluefin Tuna. If caught by accident you must return it alive and unharmed. Still considered an endangered species. Cheers Arry 2 Quote Link to post

(America) In UK waters EU boats can catch and kill tuna in a rubbish, inflexible, poorly thought out quota system that also says UK charter boats cant target them in a catch and release way. That's wrong Edited October 22, 2020 by DIDO.1 2 Quote Link to post

That's wrong There is no quota for Bluefin Tuna in the UK. You can't land them. The charter boat are not aloud to target them. The law is there they are ignoring the law saying they are fishing for Shark, saying it's a accident then releasing them. https://www.gov.uk/government/news/bluefin-tuna-in-the-uk Cheers Arry Quote Link to post

No British boats have any tuna quota. Charter boats can't target tuna to catch and release. Irish boats can. If some people are targeting them and releasing then so what? The fact they aren't allowed to is crazy. Protect all tuna in UK waters but allow a catch and release industry to target them. Especially when at the minute EU boats are killing the same fish....thats mental 4 Quote Link to post
