Being a single parent on low income, she'll be entitled to a reduction in council tax and universal credit - she needs to speak to a benefits advisor or the citizens advice bureau to see what she can apply for.

Depending on her work circumstances, I believe even self employed can now get government help because of  Covid 19.

Get her to read through this:

https://www.gov.uk/universal-credit

........ She can apply online.

Speak to her landlord regarding her rent, most mortgage lenders are giving 3 months break, doesn’t affect your credit rate ing, also council tax can be on hold for two months, if she has done a tax return for the last 3 years she will be able to claim money back in June, hope this helps

Shouldn't be her landlords problem imo

If he’s got a morgage on the property he could have a 3 month break therefore suspending the lady’s rent,

The problem with that is, it has to be caught up again later.

............ the government made a 3 month break sound like they're doing everyone a favour but, in reality it'll push renters into debt and saddle the landlord with extra interest if he can't make it up before his mortgage ends.

Can’t see interest being a fortune over 3 months if he’s that bothered he can always put the rent up to cover his costs

That's all good and well but, it'll add more cost to a tenant that was already struggling enough to ask for the break, as well the debt of 3 months rent.

As for the extra 3 months on a mortgage  - banks are proper little shysters when it comes to mortgages. Some will really hike up the charges if you go over the term.

shes in a council house mate surely she cant stop paying rent,

There's probably a system in place for her to request the 3 month break with her council - they may want to means test her first and, they'll definitely want a repayment plan for after the 3 months.
