I don't know if it's her cub or not, was it sick? Was it just instinct controlling her actions? I don't know but it's never boring and always interesting.

What I also know is a vegan or vegetarian would never see this and if they did, they would never publish it!

From your picture it looks like Slinky has not cubbed this year so the cub is most likely a rival vixens.

Whether it was dead when she came across it or she has killed it we will never know but if she did it is unusual for a vixen to kill cubs.

I have known another barren vixen take up the feeding of cubs when their mother met with mishap on more than one occasion.

I’ve seen on one occasion where 3 adult foxes were feeding 5 cubs, you had the dog, mother vixen and a subservient vixen all bringing food, I’ve only seen it once but apparently according to a mate of mine this is quite common in densely populated areas

An interesting write up Sausage. And an interesting thing to witness . I’ve never seen anything like that . I’ve shot a vixen in the process of moving a litter before but the cub was still alive . Satisfying to catch up with a fox like that . ?

I think I found the earth that she took that cub from. My dog doesn't seem to keen but was certainly checking it out. My dog would of been digging if one was still in there.

The only mess was the remains of a single jackdaw. Something very strange has gone on here. Need to speak to a nearby farmers son who does a bit in case he shot a fox recently.

Great write up SD??, Must have been a good feeling finally catching up with your nemesis & finally dropped her, then maybe on the other hand of sort of miss the chase? Can't believe she was in the barn next door? definitely keeping an eye on you, she might have been watching you come out the house and thought shit, he got his lucky PJs on I'm staying in tonight?
