Stavross 18,724
After my plans for an evening of foxing on a new patch were put off for a week me and longshanx decided to have a look around some stables that the long one does a bit of pest control on, now these fields are bogged out and not ideal for calling foxes into, after looking around the fields I noticed sheep in the top of one of the fields so dry ground and to the left of that a small air field that the fly model airplanes on and there was a couple of hares on that, more dry land, so we did our best to conceal ourselves between the small bits of hedge along the fence, setting the caller out about 40 yards or so up the fence we set it away with the vixen in heat call, it’s was approximately 30 minutes when a fox appeared along side us and seemed to immediately wind us and took off to the top of the field, I told longshanx I was going to light it up and to get ready but as I did it slipped through the hedge back and away, another 20 minutes or so and I was playing with the long ones new nv spotter and the next customer comes charging across the air field, again I told him to get read quick, because this one is flying in, by the time I lit it up it was about 60 yards away and still coming, by the time I shouted at it it was about 35 yards away, bang went the rifle and down went the dog, longshanx first fox with the .243 and he was an old boy and proof that wisdom doesn’t always come with age, if this had of been a country fox there’s no way it would of come in that fast and that close 10 Quote Link to post

They certainly loved the vixen in heat call, both came charging in. Shame the first wasn't playing ball, but at least Jims got one less to worry about around the sheep fields. He text me on the way home and was over the moon another one has been taken off. Will have another night up there next week to see if any more come in, probably say theres still a few about. Got to say I'm impressed with the Yukon NV I got, going to make life a lot easier spotting foxes and rabbitsespecially the lamp shy rabbits Still love those Sako rounds of yours they are brutal 2 Quote Link to post

Stavross 18,724
Last night me and the long one decided to give the foxes another go on the wet lands, on arrival it looked like daylight, but putting the caller a good way from us we thought we’d give it a go, setting it away with rabbits distress it was a good 45 minutes before anything made an appearance, when we first spotted the ginger it was a good 150 yards away and very courteous, I mounted the rifle and kept an eye on it all of a sudden something spooked it and it went off at full pelt across the back field, not to be seen again for another 15 minutes when it came back down the field it ran up to the boundary fence, it hung around for a minute or so and then shot off up the field again ( very strange behaviour) I can only put this down to the wind direction and the long ones horrendous aftershave, so that was it for the night, it’s looking like we will be baiting up for this customer and sitting up on the bails with a cup of tea 3 Quote Link to post
