I’ve always encouraged the young ones too . The beaters used to bring their kids along and it was like a family day out , with a pay packet at the end of the day . They start off being more of a hindrance, getting stuck / lost in maize covers , but the years soon pass and before you know it they become valuable experienced beaters . And most are now grown up leading productive lives , one has even been signed to play rugby for Gloucester.
