new eley club ammo

now having used the clubs for 5 years i know they work in my weatherby but not any more.normally i shoot standing 99% of the time so it is not to critical if they do not bench rest perfectly.today as the ammo packaging has changed i put the rifle on the rest and what a load of shite.before it would group about the size of 5p coin at 50y for 5 shots.not any more some of the fliers were up to an inch out.this happened with the silencer and without it nothing has changed other than the ammo.will not be buying any more of this

I agree, Eley seem to have taken a backward step in my opinion. I’ve moved over to rws mainly, they seem to be still as good as ever. I used to find eley .22’s unbeatable. Not anymore

Eley club is what it states in its name. It is supposed to be a good quality round to be used by club shooters shooting in club competition. If yu are having problems with it take it back and tell the seller that it isn't suitable for the job because it isn't accurate enough. A bloke that I worked with bought eley subs and had so many fail to fire that he took them back

It’s not just me then , I bought a couple of boxes of eley  subs . All over the place and some failed to fire . I thought it was my rifle . Stripped cleaned it , no it’s the ammo , went and got my Winchester subs and I was” back in the game “. Won’t be buying any more eley . I only got some because I’d watched a YouTube film where they tested all the makes and eley came out top for accuracy .... must have been a different batch to mine .

I shoot 22 target for fun at a smallbore rifle club and Over the years I  have used all sorts of makes. When fired in the confines of an indoor range you smell the cartridges and this smell has changed. Either Eley have changed manufacturer or components.  Also you hear the muzzle report a lot louder and sometimes you'll get a banger or a soft one.  This will create different velocities and different points of impact. Out in the field you won't notice this and because you are firing at different ranges, free hand, the accuracy is hit and miss. You might miss some that you should have hit and on the other hand you could hit others. To see what they are like I  would get an A4 sheet of paper, make 3 small aiming marks with a felt tip pen and shoot three 3 shot groups with the gun securely rested so as to take your influence out of the equation. DON'T  throw your misfires away.  Keep them as evidence. If the ammo ìs inaccurate or you get misfires ģet in toúch with Eley. Or even the proof house. DONT bother with the dealer because all you might get is a replacement box of  Eley that might be as bad as, or worse than what you've got. That's what happened to the bloke at work.

When I got the eley subs I got a target out and tried to zero them , and that’s when I noticed the problems . I never even field tested them . Byron Pace did quite a scientific test on all the popular subs and eley came out on top ....not my experience, I would like to use English ammo , but that last lot put me off . I was looking after my nephew for the day over the holidays and I let him shoot them off at some apples and conkers I’d lined up , about all they were good for !!
