scothunter 12,609
I remember a story of a st Johnstone player young guy standing with his foot in the ball staying to souness "fancy you're chances old man", 15mins later he was carried off lol Not sure how much truth was in the story just something I heard
jukel123 9,985
Maybe I see things too black and white, but I'm only really interested in two sports:boxing and football. I don't like to mix them up. It drives me wild to see a couple of prima donnas getting £100 grand a week getting themselves sent off for squaring up to each other. Their pathetic wee egos are more important to them than the team or the fans. I would love to see them put a pair of boxing gloves on....or maybe not, the fight would probably be an embarrassment. Violence belongs in the ring out in the open. Not on a fitba field.

I’m saying that I’m a defensive mid player , and my role is to protect the space in front of the back four . No one is getting a second touch in that area without getting a challenge or a tug. That is football imho. If a lad chests down an inswinger and takes another touch I’m afraid he’s getting a shoulder or a step across, regardless of how close I am to the ball. Sunday leagues aren’t full of Matt le tissiers and as my old coach is found of saying , the gyms there for everyone I can genuinely say hand on heart I've never gone in to hurt someone even the c**ts you meet on weekends football. I was centre back and all I wanted to do was smash the ball and them. If it puts them on edge then good , means my day might be easier . Let's face it attackers job is to make you look a fool so f**k them and their fancy footwork

Astanley 11,680
There are still some LFC fans who consider Souness the best ever Liverpool player ,not a popular person on Merseyside nowadays but credit where it's due ...a great player and leader .

Wow, that really surprises me. It's all about opinions but to me,he wouldn't rank in the top ten. Barnes,Alonso, Suarez,Dalgliesh, Gerrard, Torres,Fowler Owen, Rush and Salah. There's ten I personally would put in front of him. Maybe his sheer determination to win and leadership would be what would influence koppites and I can understand that. But there's been alot better than him in terms of pure class pulled on a red shirt imho.

I loved Roy Keane as a Utd fan . Everything about him got you going. Ronaldo far better player by a mile but I loved Keane more than Ronaldo and felt Keane gave more to the club than Ronaldo a undoubted genius . If you needed a goal Ronaldo was your man but when your backs against the wall and you feel like it needs pulling together Keane was there . Dragged Utd through the semi Vs juve to the final even tho he knew he was suspended.

If you did a poll of over forties Liverpool fans about the best ever ,Kenny and Gerrard would be miles ahead but Souness and Hanson and Rush would probably make up the top five . THE STIFFMEISTER 17,710
Here’s another one here, possibly the most underrated British footballer of all time, hard to believe in 97 he played Man Utd off the park and in the final never gave Zidane a kick! What a player !

THE STIFFMEISTER 17,710
My mate always said if he’d born 2 hours down the m74 England would have won euro 96 and World Cup 98 . It’s difficult to argue with that imho
