air gun ant 1,666
Do they need to be kept in a cabinet? I don't need a licence untill my next sgc renewal and I'm still waiting for my visit from the Feo to check my cabinet, I was going to ask then but I've been waiting for the visit for 4 1/2 months lol but basically it's a pain in the arse walking from the living room to the gun cabinet when a Swirrels chewing my bird feeders or a magpies trying to eat the pheasant chicks in the garden! Probably a 5 minute process to get the airgun out and would rather keep it handy? But I'm not sure on the legality of it? Cheers ant Quote Link to post

onion jonny 527
asked them last week and they said they will treat them the same as shotguns and will expect them to be secured the same. Quote Link to post

pianoman 3,589
Without knowing what's involved in licensing an air rifle under Scottish law...But, it seems to me, with all this licensing requirement for air guns going on in Scotland, you'd perhaps be better off getting your FAC for an air rifle and go totally legit with having something worthwhile the licensing process. Especially if you already have shotguns and sporting rifles on a ticket. The police seem to generally look a bit more favourably on applications for FAC air rifles for pest control work than higher calibre full bore weapons I've found. Or, it may be a bit different with Scottish police forces? Just a thought. But even a simple, to-the-point 23ft/lb HW80 .22 is an honestly, mighty useful tool and a really effective air rifle to have on a rabbit/vermin-infested perm. Phenominal killer punch on rats, squirrels and woodpigeons too. And never runs out of puff after 20-30 shots. Still my No.1 rifle for getting the job done. 1 Quote Link to post
The one 8,592
A few folk i know have applied for a shotgun cert and then its worthwhile getting the cabinet and keeping the two guns in a cabinet Quote Link to post
