Underdog 2,337
Little Jess got a seed washed into her ear tonight after rinse down. She was very irritated and in discomfort. The only thing I could do was to irrigate the ear with warm water. After a few times and her expelling the water I found two wet seeds on the kitchen floor! She seems quite back to normal again. Anyone else had this happen? U. Quote Link to post

U. you did well then, as sometimes they can be very difficult to get out. ive been lucky with my 2 dogs ive got now, but idi have border terrier years ago and he got couple in his ear, tok him to the vet and he got them out with tweezers / and used a small torch to get them out, they were in deer in the ear, so i am glad i let the vet do the job of getting them out. this time of the year with the long grass etc , i try to keep my dogs away from fields . mushroom 14,143
I always check for burrs. It's worse here than Blighty because of the type of vegetation. Even short coat dogs get them bad. Ears are definitely my first point of call, during and after a walk this time of year Quote Link to post
Caravan Monster 323
Mine had eye lids swollen nearly shut. No obvious cause, but quite probably because she had gone on a mission in an oilseed rape field earlier. Roll on harvest! Quote Link to post
Underdog 2,337
She did have an eye irritation a few weeks back. She rubbed them raw on the bottom eyelid. I put some Stockholm tar on the sores, just a tiny amount. Healed up real quick then. Quote Link to post
