Pub Games

Recommended Posts

I bought an April copy of Airgun World today just for a change and one article caught my interest. Many years ago in Birmingham and the Black Country generally they used to use old airguns in the pubs to shoot bell target and hold pub competitions, well there is a chap I know of called Dave Carter who is responsible for creating new shooting clubs in schools, universities etc etc and he has listed a few pubs in Lincolnshire to test the sport with the first pub having a write up in the magazine.

If you have not seen this, here is a shortened version. The bell target is set at 6mt in the pub with anybody welcome to try. The locals were not too happy but by the end of the evening, everyone in the pub had tested themselves and each time the bell rang a great cheer went out. A bit of fun shooting, a drink or two and a mini competition during the night.......................what is not to like. I believe there is going to be one in Grimsby so if I have not missed it, I have got to go and have a pop. Rez, you may find one in your home town as well mate.

If these evenings are successful, there is an intention to have some team competitions...................................I need an S200, 6fpe and match sights to really get involved, I will have to start looking.

It is organised by LSRA (Lincolnshire Small-Bore Rifle Association) if anyone is interested in following it up.

Being as I bought the same magazine, this caught my eye too. The mrs work mate actually goes to this over in Louth... might have to show me face.

Let me know if you go Rez, I might join you.

That's really good Phil :good:

Top marks for that bloke for coming up with such a simple idea - I reckon he's onto a winner

It's nice to see peoples preconceived ideas change when they just loosen up a little and give it ago.

...... the best part is, this can be a relatively cheap set up - a cheapish springer, say an HW30 and, a bell target can be knocked up for little money.

Good on him - it can only be good for the sport

..... I hope it takes off.
