Doesn't take long at all. Equally important that the ferrets are steady around the dogs too.

I agree with you 100%!!! It's far easier to teach a pit bull not to fight dogs, or a terrier not to grab rats, than it will EVER be to train a mink to not bite humans! Dogs are bred to respect and lis

No excuse, you know your getting a pup so either source a ferret or lend a big hob of a mate.   As soon as the pups in the house, introduce them and get the 100%, I'm not a ferreting person myself

Has anybody tried training ferret to do what ye mink does ?

I think he uses his mink underwater at times mate, some of the holes are submerged I think?

Not ferret territory....

Yeah, most muskrat hole entrances are completely submerged.

I mean more the bond an retreive an stuff, like he does with mink, loads a 1 on 1 and see what results they get with a ferret

Yeah, I know a guy in Australia who trained a ferret to bring back its kill like I do with my mink.

Was it trained using food as a reward when swapped like yours? Is there any videos of it hunting?? Just curious mate

Yes, he used his own variation of my training methods, and I've actually been trying out his new ideas on my mink. I know he has some videos of it in training, but I don't know if he has any of the actual hunting. He ran into a problem in hunting certain warrens, as his little hob had trouble dragging up a full sized rabbit out of the burrow system. I think he needed a bigger/more powerful hob, as the one he had was very small, smaller than my female mink if I remember right.
