king 11,984
Was you just walking king? Maybe the fitness ain't there yet? Or could be a niggling injury. The 3 times he had cramp when out was just walking roybo. He knocked his back toe and lost the nail a while ago.and went lame on it. so he's been rested up for a good while. So yea his fitness has dropped right off. I will see how he gets on the next few days and if he still cramps up. I will have to get him seen. Quote Link to post
roybo 2,873
Shouldn't imagine it would be cramp,if you where just walking mate , I would imagine he'd have to use a fair bit of energy to bring cramp on . Could just have a niggle showing itself due to being laid up a while . I'd lead walk him for a week or so and let him build his fitness up . Can be hard if they are tear arsed and want to run everywhere full pelt. 1 Quote Link to post
FUJI 17,328
Heavily muscled type dogs are far more prone to getting cramp/acidosis due to a build up of lactic acid in their muscles..Tinned tomatoes & also banana will put an end to the problem but just don't feed until the problem disappears or it will reoccur..I've seen the problem hundreds of times over the years mainly with greyhound's I raced but seen plenty of bull types with the issue & whippet types..The old tinned tomatoes rectified the problem each & every time ? 1 Quote Link to post
'sully' 1,119
If it's cramps it's more then likely lactic acid , it can be built up in muscles and causes the dog to cramp up , give him some tomatoes and a days rest and he'll be right as rain 1 Quote Link to post
