Durham John 693
Nice one Rob - Sounds like you got a good deal there mate I really like those Airmax scopes. Does it have the AMX reticle? Yep, it's the amx. The tdr is now up for sale, will be advertising it this week but have had some interest of a local guy already. Are you putting it on here Rob, And did you get the indexing sorted Dj 1 Quote Link to post

Are you putting it on here Rob, And did you get the indexing sorted Dj To be honest mate I am going to advertise it tonight when I have taken some pics, a local guy is interested but he is notoriously difficult to contact and I can't be arsed with sitting around waiting, so it will be advertised and it's the first come first served basis, I will maybe advertise it on here, but I have always had nightmares trying to put photos on this site, so it won't be my first choice as guns never sell without photos. Yes the cocking/indexing has been sorted thanks to some help from off here, so now it is at last useable, but am afraid it doesn't do it for me, that will teach me for buying things on a whim to 'try out'. 1 Quote Link to post

pianoman 3,589
As the lads here have said, I have a Daystate Regal that now, thanks to Carl at Airtech and a custom made regulator for it,, has become a bloody marvellous rifle for general vermin shooting. These are really beautiful rifles to shoot in all respects. I cannot fault mine....NOW! BUT. Fresh from the Daystate Factory the faults I found with mine were... 1.It was woefully underpowered. I saw pellets bounce off rabbits and pigeons at sensible ranges, that other decent guns would have killed clean out! 2.The Harper valve system uses a retention spring on the bolt assembly that makes it hard to cycle/cock comfortably. Blisters on your palms I shit ye not! 3. At least a full 1 Foot Pound difference in the sweet spot. Mine ran all over the place, avaraging from 09.01, to 10.3 to 11.3 FPE with Air Arms Fields. 4.Barrel shroud poor muzzle fit. Causes pellets to clip long silencers. 5.Shroud loose fitted and rattled inside barrel band. I actually reached the point on my last shoot with it in this "New Factory" condition, after seeing another rabbit that took an almighty amount of patience to stalk, to get to within 35 metres, only to see my pellet bounce off the side of its head and watch it leap back into the hedgrows and away, that I almost wrapped this rifle round a fence post and just chuck it away as far as I could fling it. But, I got hold of my temper;- and all the patience I had left and decided to get it sorted. I'm delighted, now, that I did! Carl took this "Sorrystate" and after about three months work, transformed it into a genuine beauty. Everything nice and tight and nothing rattles. I now take it out and it gets the job done as it should. It cost me £120 to have it done. Well worth it if you want a Regal to perform as a top dollar rifle should in the first place. To be fair here, there are some satisfied Regal owners who've not had any issues with their own guns and will probably scratch their heads at what I'm saying here. But this is not my experience with mine nor others I know here. It has not been a happy experience at first outing with this rifle. The truly annoying bit is, this rifle should be a world class, award winning British-made PCP to show the Germans a thing or two. The walnut Marinelli stock puts a lot of other air rifles and a fair few cartridge rifles to shame. And it is a stunningly accurate rifle for anyone's money. No question there. But it's been badly let down by poor management decisions over its production. Namely, the so-called 'improved' Harper valve and poor finishing-fit of the barrel shroud. To name but two major points. Buy it with the prepared readyness to have an outside gunsmith like Carl/AIRTECH who knows his stuff, to fix its shortcomings (if it has them) for you and turn it into the stunner Daystate clearly can't be bothered to...... Or you might be a lucky chap and your mate is selling a ready-made super example that Daystate actually got right. 1 Quote Link to post

pianoman 3,589
Nice one Rabid it sounds like you have, indeed, one of the better, well-made Regals out there. I take Jimmy's post here into respectful account too. I really do try to be fair and give an honest account of what I see and find with a rifle I'm actually shooting with. And from what some other owners on shooting forums have said of their Daystate Regal, there are some that are spot on straight from the box. But there are others that are, in some cases worse than mine was. But, I take heart from Jimmy's post regarding Vizlauk's Air Wolf and truly hope Daystate have taken themselves in hand and are putting their shop in order! 1 Quote Link to post
