Introducing 3 Year Olds

I'm adopting a friends pair of spayed Jill's this weekend with the intention of chucking them in with my 2 whole Jill's and vas hob.

 

Mine are 2 and the newcomers are 3 years old if that is likely to make a difference.

 

I have a new hutch that they are all going to be going into and just wondered how best to go about it.

 

Should I introduce all 5 into the new hutch at the same time or give the new ones a day or two to settle in then add mine one at a time?

 

Just looking for the least stressful way of doing it for the ferrets.

I bought a jill kit in and I swapped them round in there hutches every day for a week. Things were fine then but she got hammered if i just put her in

Put them into the new hutch and give them a feed see how they get on when the hutch doesnt smell of any one group of ferrets , if that dont work i mix mine about after the breeding season and after a few wee scraps they settle down

I kept 3 jills together from last year. I added 1 hob this year and he was picking on one of the jills, who ended up with no fur on her neck so i took her out and put her on her own to recover. after 4 weeks she was back to full strength and full fur again so on the weekend I tried to put her back in. The hob (twice her size) was fine but my tiny albino jill (half her size) went mental and was trying to kill her! In the end I took the albino out.....now Im in a right pickle!!!

I agree with the one.my situation was the opposite to yours tho i rescued a hob as he seemed to be a great ferret just had a shty owner and when i put him in with my gills they went nuts on him but after making a new enclosure that i had to do as it was overdue they all got on sweet as pie he was probably one of my best males as well but no longer with me now
