I use both, and would say, these, 1 will check for malware and remove it, the other cleans all crap off your pc. You can enable it on start up. Takes an extra few mins but worth it. If you have to many pics and vids get them on an external hardrive (I need to get one asap) or buy a usb stick and depending on your needs and put all your pics, vids ec on there.

Maybe it your internet provider virgin bought out my old provider and i found it was real slow since they took over couldnt even watch a vidio on youtube it would freeze every ten seconds or so then i changed to sky and havent had a problem since

Could be as simple as that. Changing provider, if you look at u switch deals you will get it at a better price than someone who's been with them 10 years +.

Have you tried disc clean up? Removes all your cookies and only leaves form fill and password data.

Hi Flipper_Al, I'm in Waterlooville, just to the north of Portsmouth.

 

I'm going to try the things recommended above but I've also realised that I saved a load of photos into Dropbox earlier this year. I was presuming it worked in a similar way to a cloud (not that I'm 100% sure I know how one of those works) but I'm now wondering if they're saved on here instead and therefore taking up lots of space. It was simply because I had an IT accident seven years ago and then again just over a year ago in which (on both occasion) I lost the first photos of both my kids. I decided to stick them all in one place rather than some on discs, some on sticks and some on memory cards and the dropbox seemed like a good idea but maybe it's that?

Thanks, that's very much appreciated. I'll give the other things a go first and see how I get on.

That's the problem with IT...it does exactly what you tell it to but it's just that most of us aren't quite sure what we've asked it to do! As a teacher I think that's why kids are generally better than adults at It too; they have no worries about it going wrong because they can just stick their hand up and ask for help, whereas we worry about what MIGHT happen and are too embarrassed to ask for help.

Quick update: the two main things suggested cleaned it up and speeded it up a tad but one of them involved downloading google chrome which has speeded it up even more so thanks for that!
