Iv recently added a few ww1 medals ( I'll add the stories behind the men on here when I get time). Does anyone else collect medals? I'm really uneasy about it. It dosnt seen right somehow. Added to this they don't get much support once out an there plenty of people out there like to pretend they're some big shot n will pay good money for em. Also genuine collectors will pay good dosh. Maybe some were sold in the 30's if people were desperate. Maybe sold be smack head grandkids, maybe sold cos no family, maybe sold by the men themselves because they ment nothing after everything they had seen. Iv got quite a bit of info on the men. Where they lived, occupation before call up etc you will all enjoy reading it when I get a min. I'd love to find their family, don't know if it's possible. Quote Link to post Share on other sites

My grandad never wore all his at Poppy Day,would never talk about the war,but he kept his,now they will be family heirloom same as his old bs a air rifle ,my dads told me in no certain terms they are not to be sold and handed down,hopefully my son will respect that as well, but like has been said younger generations sell them soon as they get hard up or addictions or old men die alone an they end up sold to pay their burial or debts or just as house clearance.
