Well boys, i said i would let you know how the Canada trip went so here goes some of it, Landed in Toronto with sunshine but -7 deg,

I had gone over to stoneclad my mate Alex's new house, he had bought 20 acres of field and bush and had got planning permission to put a house on it, with temp so cold the cladding was put on hold, his land is in Norfolk county a couple of hours west of Toronto and flat as a Bowling green, and is quite near the indian reservation, i met a couple of them, they were doing the the dry wall on my mates house, they do not like the English, they still call us Stinking Red Coat b*****ds, i thought this is a good start, but they mellowed after a couple of days.

After the weather had warmed up we got started on the cladding, i was in the trade as a bricklayer/ stonemason and this was going to be pretty easy as you only need a gauging trowel a level and a grinder to do the job,[ after we had spent a couple of days prepping it ]post-33227-0-68994000-1462627070_thumb.jpg The new House.

FISHING.

The plan was to get a bit of Steelhead fishing in, but you know how fishing goes, i got skunked 3 times, but so did nearly every one else, we fished some awesome spots for scenery.

i seem to be running out of space so i will put up some more later, hope i am not boring you all.

Nice one, keep up the pics, how much is it costing him to build his house?

The lad is in the trade, [framefixer]

and has 2 or 3 lads that work for him so that has kept the price down, but when its finished he recons it will be worth between 6 and 7 hundred thousand dollars including the land, it will have mains elec but no mains water, when i was there we put in a enormous conc water tank, it was nearly as big as my groundfloor, wish i had taken some pics of it, it had to be filled up straight away as if the ground had frozen up when it was empty it would of lifted it right out of the ground [ takes some beleiving when you saw the size of the thing. the tank was to take all the roof water and they would be buying in drinking water, a lot of people do that over there.

thats my line of work too, but was interested in costs of constructing the frame of the house including the roof, does that cladding bond straight onto the moisture barrier? Looks the ticket over there

yes mate..they can be..i had a right obnoxious one when i had to present my pr papers, there was no curtious when he called me over, which got my back up straight away, then going through my papers he noticed i had put the address wrong...then the sarcastic remarks come along, i could feel myself boiling up, but luckily enough my wife noticed it and said to me....don't do it....calm down, one thing that gets my back up is sarcasm, and no manners, it was a simple genuine mistake that was sorted out in a few clicks on the keyboard..done, but once he stamped my papers he was fine, a few smiles/laughs and said to me, welcome to Canada :icon_eek: have a nice day..mind you, there were a few before me that caused them all-sorts headaches, if i had to meet people like that day in day out i think i would end up a miserable git.... once you get past them everything else went ok.....all was forgiven....... :D
