neil cooney 10,416
Will you use an incubator, broodies or natural parents ?
HedgeCrawler 224
Only got 1 broody at the minute and she already sat tight so will have to use the incubator.I will probably take the first few eggs then leave the hens to sit naturally.
neil cooney 10,416
Good stuff. Personally I hate to see over use of the incubators as in the long run breeds or species loose the parental instinct.
smithwicks 182
Neil is that the reason why some fellas think hen pheasants dont breed when released? I have heard from different lads that released hens won't breed, i dont have much experience to comment just curious of your opinion?
neil cooney 10,416
It probably has a lot to do with it. Keepers used to use game hens as broodies but nowadays there's lines of gamefowl that are not good mothers because by now there's been years of mass production using incubators. Quail are another classic example.

HedgeCrawler 224
The first hatch will be next weekend and then 1 the next so the hatches are staggered.
Chicken_man 1,651
I always used to go and see some golden pheasants a fella had when I was a youngster. Also some silver pheasants. Lovely birds
