2016 Webley Raider

Recommended Posts

For anyone who hasn't seen the new re vamped Raider... :D Its in this months AirGunner.

Looks so mint. A cross between an 510 and a MK4IS from the angle I can see in the image.

Might be my next PCP.

Tried to find an example on the net but it looks like there is nothing yet.

Worth a look.

if just a shame they are made in the same factory as hatsans.

I didn't know that. Maybe its a case of it being good on the outside, wank in the middle.

Turkish delight'ish.

They do look mint though.

It's does me good to see the Webley name back in the air rifle business. A shame though, if they are wholly owned by Hatsan. They always stood for British-at-its-best quality in their air rifles and the made really lovely guns. Some of them became very much the sought-after must-have air rifle of the 70s and 80s till they went broke in the early 2000s. Poor, inept British management, as usual, ruined what was a proud, household name in shooting. Seems to be the way of things with British corporate affairs these days. :cray:

I've owned a number of Webley spring air rifles and they were beautifully made guns, if a little underpowered. But they did the job at reasonable hunting ranges. We took it for granted they came with the most beautifully blued and finished actions and quality beech stocks with white spacers and grip caps.

I had a look at their current website and there's some nice looking rifles they have now. The Raider II is still there. Sadly though, they now appear to make the Tomahawk break-barrel spring rifle an FAC only affair. That was a cracking good springer originally. 'Heard of one or two spring shooters winning the Recoiling Class HFT competitions with the original sub-12 guns.

I hope they are as good as they look Rez. I have a genuine soft spot for this brand. My first ever air rifle was a Webley .22. spring rifle when I was a young lad and the last I had was a Webley Excel .22 which made a lovely conversion to Gas Ram. it was a real little cracker.

EDIT to add.

I really hope it's not a case of mint on the outside, wank in the middle Rez.

HATSTAND....Whatever next!

Does look proper nice. See what I mean by 510 and Mk4... Think it has a bit of the FX brood included too. Smart.

On reading the small insert in the mag it does say it's for the entry level market, so I would imagine the parts aren't as perhaps high end as we lie, but f**k me, this has to be the best looking entry level PCP to appear for some time.

It may not be a 100, your right but it's not aimed at people with 900 quid to spend is it.

Even if it's a re vamped look to the raider with the same old internals, we have all seen what a raider can do... Haven't we. Budget PCPs are just as good at hitting the mark as more expensive ones, as long as the shooting is, naturally.
