After the screw up on Sunday, I managed to get Sean and Mac out on 2 of my perms last night. We were up at the farm first, off in different fields after a couple of hours we came back to the cars, Mac with 1, Sean with 2 and me with 3 (2.5 as one was little, only saw an eye through the grass or I wouldn't have shot it). I've not been to the perm all winter and there was a good 40+ rabbits over the 4 fields.

 

We moved over the road to the big L shaped field, this has just been seeded last week, so nothing but dirt, there was a good 10-20 rabbits but nothing hanging around long enough.

 

Finally we jumped onto the work factory site, again, not been here for 2-3 months. The 3 of us again went different directions and used different methods. I took the front right lawn, stalked my first, then laid up and took 2 more with the HW100 & Nitesite viper. On catching up with Sean and Mac, Sean had been stalking, not one for laying down on the cold grass, but hadn't added to his 2, Mac I don't know what he had done, but had picked up 2 more, plus my 3 additional ones gave me 6, Mac 3, Sean 2. A Tidy haul for the night.

 

Very happy with the laying up and picking them off, certainly paid for me, but the rabbits on these perms run on red/white light and are very skittish, so laying up often pays back more. HOWEVER, sat at 1:30 am skinning and gutting the rabbits, I came to a conclusion. It is time to sell up. I have not been out for 3-4 months over winter and I just didn't feel the draw to go out. On top, as much fun as it is with the lads, the craic is more fun than shooting and cleaning rabbits. My hearts not in it and I've too much cash tied up to just go out once a month.

 

So I've a HW97S in .177, a HW100T in .177 - both with bags, scopes etc an a nitesite viper (New version 1year old) all up for grabs.

 

Mac you wanted dibs on the 97, I'm going to look on gunstar for value and list them next week.

but the offer of coming to the 5000 acres still stands and if you sell the rifles and gear

 

me and viz have plenty of them so lending you one of them is not a problem .

 

You were the first one we tort we show,d you every thing you know and you have become a top shooter and hunter

Cheers Mac, I've been hanging on for ages and thinking about it. Last night just proved a point for me. I enjoyed the banter more than the shooting.

 

To top it off, after over an hour cleaning up last night, the butcher didn't take the rabbits, he's just bought a shit load from a supplier in Yorkshire, all cut up and packaged..... tipped me owa the edge that mind.

 

I still want a walk around that county you and Sean have haha.

Just have a holiday away mate and return when and if you want to. A spell of 3 or 4 months will never decide your mind or freedom with our sport.

Ah mate, I've a new job which has me all over the bloody world, my lad has started playing basket ball which take up 3 days a week. So if I'm not in the U.S. Or Poland or Singapore, I'm on. A basketball court or just fecked! I just don't have the love of the hunt anymore, not like you see in Sean and Mac. I may come back to it. But life is too busy right now. It's been a blast and it won't be the last time I have a gun, but enough for the mo!

We will get you back up to the 5000 acres and hunting old school like you used to when you fell for the sport in the first place no fancy gadgets no Nv units or tv screens just you your rifle and a good scope
