Waz 4,301
I got the top section of something like that, ill get a photo took. As its the top section its not as deep and it has cornice round the top, but.. im going to turn it into a base unit, so will need to make a top for it, bit of marble might do it actually, any wood will never match up to the existing. You will probably like the door carvings Kanny Got it off a mate, needed the room in his barn, which you could probably fit my old house into?!

If it was you id say your very talented in your trade pal, wish I'd stick in with the family and at least tried Cabinet making. I'm excellent at turning good wood into kindling tho if that counts hahathanks I'm ok at what I do but its fairly basic compared to those pieces they are a entirely different league... commission pieces like that had no time scale unlike nowadays where production is everything ....it would be intrestting to know how long they took to make... months and months maybe years even .

Waz 4,301
Exscuse the photos.. im just out from having me wisdom teeth out, dentist was a brutal b*****d.. Anyway it looks better in the flesh! Need a good dust up and some TLC, a little base and a top of some description. Slim enough to go on a landing about 500 deep, maybe 1.3 high and 1.7 long or thereabouts. Cant believe my mate wanted shot!
kanny 21,784
That's a nice piece there and the quality of the carving looks top notch... Do you know any of the history to it?
Waz 4,301
My mate bought the house, and the tenant before left it there, we both know the tenant, but he is a stuck up *, so I say hello and swerve any other conversation, my mate who inherited it with the house may know more. It may have come from the Champagne region of France as this is where the tenant hailed from. Ive seen a lot of big pieces like what is in the original thread although less ornate, which in my mind makes them more practical, and their never that much money!!, im sure if you had the right outlet in england and a luton van you could earn a bit. Once ive got some big projects out of the way ill be after a few bits furniture wise, ill make sure I have the camera phone when I do. I wont want much commision
